Supplemental insurance coverage for DSO and OSO-employed orthodontists

The AAO-Endorsed Insurance Program can help support you through the evolution of your career by supplementing the life and disability insurance offered through your employer.

An

evolving

industry

More and more orthodontists are choosing to join DSOs and OSOs, as these organizations can offer stability, support and even benefits like health, life and disability insurance.

As with all employer-sponsored insurance coverage, it is important to determine if the offered coverage fully meets your insurance needs.

If you require higher benefit options than your employer-sponsored coverage can offer, the AAO-Endorsed Insurance program can help supplement your policies with Group Disability Income insurance* and Group Term Life insurance*

3 reasons you may want supplementary coverage

1. Your career changes

In the future, if you decide to leave your employer, any coverage available through them would cease.

AAO-Endorsed Insurance Program difference: Our coverage is tied to your AAO membership, so it can stay with you throughout your career.

2. You want more extensive coverage

Your employer’s offerings may have reduced monthly benefit options or policy options.

AAO-Endorsed Insurance Program difference: Our Group Disability Income insurance offers coverage amounts from $500 to $15,000 per month, in $100 increments. Our Group Term Life insurance offers coverage amounts from $100,000 to $3,000,000 in $10,000 increments for the 10 Year Level Term Life coverage and in $50,000 increments for the 20 Year Level Term Life coverage.

3. Your employer’s coverage has limitations

Many employer disability policies have offsets if you receive Social Security disability benefits. This could reduce your employer disability policy benefits.

AAO-Endorsed Insurance Program difference: Our Group Disability Income insurance does not reduce benefits if you receive Social Security disability benefits. It also includes an own-occupation definition that provides coverage even if you are able to work in another occupation.

Determine the right coverage for you by scheduling a complimentary risk evaluation from Lockton Affinity. In just 15 minutes, you will have a tailored coverage for your disability and life insurance needs.
